For reference I was trying to connect the printer to my Ipad Pro. Printer: Brother MFC-L2700DW (1) On printer, select the following options: Menu. Option #6 Network. Option #2 WLAN. Option #3 Set Up Wizard (You will see the name of a WiFi- select the one that you are using with your computer or tablet. The only way for me to re-establish my wifi connection on my SB3 is to turn off the wifi and turn it back on. Everything reconnects fine each time.

Ive got a wifi only iPad Pro 9.7 which I use while at work. I tether to my iPhone 7 Plus connection no problem, however this drops when the iPad is put to sleep for anymore than a couple of minutes.
